We are conducting business as usual and at the same time taking the current situation serious.
We continue making appointments with clients to meet at our office. However, how much we prefer to do business face to face, we ask you kindly to stay away if: a. you are not feeling well, b. have been abroad in the past few weeks or c. have been in contact with a person who has the coronavirus. In that case, as we continue preparing tax returns, you can email your paperwork to heemskerkacct@gmail.com or drop it off in an envelope in the mailbox that is at the bottom of our driveway. Once a tax return is ready for filing, we will send you an email with the paperwork to sign that you can return signed, per email or drop off in the mailbox at the bottom of our driveway. Canada Revenue has extended the deadline of filing income taxes for individuals till June 1st. The deadline for sole proprietors has not changed and is still June 15th. However, if you have a family and counting on child care benefits or expecting a refund, we recommend to file as soon as possible to assure proper and timely processing. If you have an amount owing for personal income taxes filed on or after March 18th, the due date is delayed to August 31, 2020. Canada Revenue is accepting electronically signed documents from March 18, 2020 until August 31, 2020. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions! Paul & Carina HEEMSKERK ACCOUNTING
